Book Reports and Projects
There will be a book report assigned every month. Look below for the book report assignment for the month.
August-September: Biography Book Report and Speech
Students need to find a biography book about a person, follow the instructions to write a report about them, and make a puppet that looks like their person. Students will present their puppet and reports before break. Please see below for the attachments for this report.
October-November: Mystery Book Report
Students need to find a mystery book (example: Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys) and fill out the book report form attached below. Examples are featured below.
November-December: Historical Fiction Book Report and Commercial
Students need to find a historical fiction book (a book that takes place in a time in history and is not based on real characters) and do a book report on a cereal box. Then, they need to make a commercial telling us why we should read the book and why we should buy their cereal. Please see below for an example of the report and copies of the handouts for you to print out.
January-February: Fantasy Book Report
Next, students need to find a fantasy book or science fiction book and create a scrapbook about their book. See below for the attachments and examples.
March-April: State Tower Report and Speech
We will go to the library and get a book about the U.S. state that each student chose. Students need to create a tower and place facts about their state on their tower. Also, students need to write a speech on why we should visit their state. The students will bring in their towers and giving their speeches the week of Open House. The towers will be displayed on their desks for Open House.
May-June: Newbery Award Book Report
Students need to find a book off the Newbery Award book list and do a report about their book on the forms provided below.
